Jack Johnson

Burl's Creek Park

SUNDAY AUGUST 3, 2008

vendors go green

vendors go green

Throughout the event site, from the parking lots and food stands to the merchandise kiosks and the washroom facilities , the venue and event producers are working with a variety of suppliers to help minimize the impact of this event on the environment, and help Jack Johnson spread the message of environmental awareness and action. This event is bullfrogpowered with 100% green electricity. We will be offsetting all greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions though the Planetair program (carbon offsetting credits) supplied by Unisfera International Centre. Over the coming months we will be posting additional company profiles of those partners who are doing their part in helping us achieve our goals. Please check back in with us on this page as we acknowledge companies and organizations who are making a difference, and offer some concrete suggestions for patrons to take their own actions to help.

Public Transportation and Carpooling

There will be a number of public transportation options for those individuals who want to contribute to lower CO2 emissions. Transportation times and pick up/drop off locations will be coming soon. There will be a number of public transit options for patrons coming from south of Barrie out of the Toronto and York regions, among other locations.

Please consider carpooling with your friends and family who may also be attending this event. Help reduce your carbon footprint by traveling to and from the show together in the same vehicle.

All At Once

An individual action, multiplied by millions, creates global change. Please check out the social action network for global change at AllAtOnce.org. See how you can be involved in your community by meeting others who may be attending the show or by joining one of the non-profit organizations who will be featured at the Village Green area at the show.

* Come to the show early, and spend some time checking out the Village Green and learn more about the national and local environmental non profits, and how you can get involved.

How can you help during the show?

  • Bring reusable water bottles with you
  • Check your tire pressure before driving to the show - incorrect tire pressure reduces gas mileage
  • Carpool! Ideally all cars will come to the show at their full capacity. Organize with friends and arrive at Burl's Creek in the same vehicle.
  • Use public or mass transit. We are currently organizing bus and train shuttle services to Burl's Creek Park from the GTA and beyond. Please check back for more details.
  • If you have an option, use fuel-efficient or ultra-low emission vehicles. Even many rental car companies now offer hybrid vehicles.
  • If you are going to be staying at a hotel nearby, try to go green. Check ahead to ensure that they use biodegradable detergents and compact fluorescent light bulbs.
  • At the venue, dispose of your waste and recyclable items in the correctly marked bins throughout the venue, including parking lots and camping areas.

Vendors

We are open to submissions from organizations who offer green products, and charitable or volunteer programs who would like to set up a location during this event. If you would like to be a vendor during the show please email us at gogreen@burlscreekconcerts.com and let us know how your green-minded and environmentally-friendly company, charity or organization would like to be involved. Please provide us with a contact name, email address, and website url for your organization and some information on any past events you have been a part of.
